Here is a breakdown of the type of process to expect for your asphalt pavement installation or replacement project:

Dispose Old Asphalt & Materials

The first step for an asphalt pavement installation involves the meticulous removal of any existing asphalt or other materials that already occupy the space designated for your new driveway. We understand the importance of a clean slate, which is why our team ensures that all debris is carefully cleared away.

Following removal, we take responsibility for the eco-friendly disposal of the old asphalt. This material is transported to a licensed recycling facility, aligning with our commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability.

Inspect the Base

With the area cleared, the Toscan Construction experts conduct a thorough inspection of the existing base. We adhere to industry standards that require a base thickness of 6 to 8 inches to ensure the longevity and durability of your asphalt driveway. If we find that the base does not meet these criteria, our team will proceed to enhance it.

We add high-quality gravel as needed and use specialized equipment to compact the base, preparing it for the next layer of asphalt. This step is important for preventing future structural issues and extending the lifespan of your driveway.

Compact the Gravel

To achieve the the best possible foundation for your driveway, we use a heavy-duty roller weighing 10,000 pounds. This equipment is capable of compacting the gravel to up to 97% compaction rate, creating a solid and even base. This meticulous preparation process is key to preventing settlement and ensuring a smooth, durable surface for the asphalt to adhere to.

Install Base Binder

Once the base is prepared, our asphalt pavement contractors lay down 2 inches of asphalt base binder. This layer is composed of a ¾ stone blend, specifically chosen for its stability and strength. The base binder acts as a critical intermediary layer, providing additional support for the finish course while optimizing the surface for better adhesion and longevity.

Install Asphalt Finish Course

The final step in our asphalt paving process involves the application of a 1 ½ inch thick asphalt finish course. This top layer consists of a 3/8 stone blend, offering a smooth and aesthetically pleasing finish. Toscan’s commitment to using only the latest, state-of-the-art equipment ensures that this finish course is applied with precision, resulting in a beautifully smooth driveway that enhances the curb appeal of your home.
